There is an estimated 4000 people without a residence permit living in Utrecht. These people are living an invisible life- they have no formal status and no civil service number. As a result they cannot work legally, have no right to social security, cannot rent a house in the legal way etc.
This causes them to be one of the most vulnerable groups of people in the city of Utrecht.
The purpose of Villa Vrede in Utrecht is to offer a place for people without residence permit, where they can be acknowledged, feel safe, socialise, connect with others and be encouraged to become more self-reliant.
Villa Vrede develops for and with the people who visit us. By organizing activities, training, information sessions, people will further be empowered and Villa Vrede continuous to develop into a place where all refugees feel welcome.
